Welcome!
What is Yoga?
The word yoga means "union" in Sanskrit, the language of ancient India
where yoga originated thousands of years ago. We can think of the union occurring between the
mind, body and spirit.
Hatha
is a Sanskrit word that means several things. Ha represents the
qualities of masculine, solar, or energizing. Tha represents the
qualities of feminine, lunar or relaxing. Hatha yoga is the union of
opposites through physical practices.
Yoga is not a religion.
Practicing
yoga poses(asanas) along with breath work(pranayama) can transform any
individual physically, mentally and spiritually. The benefits are endless.
Who is Erin?
I'm a wife, mother and animal lover. I discovered
yoga in 2001 at a local community college. I thought it would be an
easy physical education credit, but it turned out to be much more.
I decided to share my passion and began taking certification classes through Yogafit and teaching in 2005. Yoga has taught me to honor my body and the world around me. No matter what kind of mood I'm in, I always feel better after I practice. Yoga will always be apart of my life.
I encourage participants to let go of expectations and judgment in order to fulfill
the mind/body experience. My classes focus on strength, flexibility,
balance and relaxation for every age and any fitness level. I will
always consider myself a student and am eager to continually grow in my
own practice.
I am currently teaching in the Auburn/Federal Way area.
I hope to meet you soon. Thank you for visiting.
Peace,
Erin
